Feng Shui for your bedroom
The bedroom is a sacred place where we spend 8 hours every night resting & unwinding after a long day at work. Great emphasis should be given as having good feng shui creates a peaceful, harmonious space & can make a world of difference to you.
1. Always make sure the headboard of your bed is against a solid wall. This signifies a strong backing in life (靠山) & ensures you have the support of the people around you. Position should be in the middle of the wall and not having the other sides of the bed against any wall. This allows qi (energy) to flow evenly around you (left & right).
2. Always keep your room neat, tidy, well-ventilated with some natural sunlight flowing in. A messy room obstructs the flow of qi (energy) this causes the qi to be stale. Over time attracting bad luck & health issues.
3. Do not have any mirrors directly facing the bed as this could potentially cause anxiety, nightmares & insomnia. There is also another belief that your luck will be split & distributed to the other half in the mirror meaning your overall fortune is being reduced.
4. Do not have any ceiling lights directly shining or pointing towards your bed as these are like poison arrows piercing through you (燈射床). Whichever the position the light is pointing/shining at, that would be the area the owner will face health issues with. There also increase chances of 血光之災 meaning getting into accidents & seeing blood. The remedies will be to either shift the bed or position of the ceiling light. If there is no way to change the position of the light, you can replace it with a round shape light instead.
5. Do not have the end of your bed facing any doors/windows (main/toilet). The flow of qi entering from the doors/windows will be too strong (沖床煞) causing restless sleep, affects relationships for couples & children's growth.
6. "Wall Knifes" (壁刀) refers to the rights angles of the wall facing your bed. This will have an impact on the area that is being "cut" causing health related issues. Some remedies include to level out that area if it very mild, put partition or to make it rounded instead.
7. Structural ceiling beams or false ceilings are not desirable as this creates a pressure (樑壓床) & whichever part is being pressed on that would be the affected area prone to illnesses. It may even affect relationships between couples. You may either shift the position of the bed to avoid the beams, level the entire ceiling or place a pair of hulus at the sides of your bed.
